Over a long period of time, sitting for long periods of time can cause health problems, mainly affecting the pelvis and spine. it is important to reflect on your sitting posture and adopt a correct position.

Project Background

There are 24 hours in a day. There are working hours, meal times and rest periods throughout the day. These daily actions require more than 10 hours of sitting in a day. Sitting, then, has an important impact on human life.

Research

  • Investigate the sitting habits of different people. Sitting with one foot in front and one foot behind is comfortable. However, it is not good for the spine.

  • This sitting position is one of the most common. This posture makes the centre of the buttocks unbalanced. It is very damaging to the spine.

  • This is a common sitting position. Both feet are extended forward. Centrality to balance. However, the concentration of gravity on the buttocks in this sitting position is not good for the tailbone.

  • Research into fitness exercises has led to the discovery of exercise balls that can help balance the spine. The ball is designed to help the spine to sit still with both feet on the floor and the spine sitting upright. This exercise is a good way to train the spinal curvature.

  • Ergonomics at the workplace. Normal, healthy sitting posture in the office. However, this sitting posture is too mechanical. It is only a standard and cannot be done by everyone.

Inspriation

  • Standing firmly on both feet means that the hip bones are balanced and the spine is not bent. This foot balance ball is a good way to test the stability of standing. This ball is the best way to exercise the balance of the feet.

  • This type of jumping ball trains the balance and the muscles of the lower body at the same time. This shape allows for a quick test of balance in the standing position.

Learned through research. The sensor that can test if it is balanced is the gyroscope. The gyroscope sensor and Arduino are connected and placed on a balanced tablet. The change in gyroscope data when balanced and unbalanced. The gyroscope's unbalance angle data is found by the X, Y, and Z axes of the data display.

Product Functionality

The shape is inspired by the exercise ball and when the user sits on it, it is easy to test the balance of the sitting position due to the semi-circular shape of the bottom. When the sitting position is unbalanced it is detected by a gyroscope and this signal is transmitted to the vibrator via the Arduino. This signal is transmitted by the Arduino to the vibrator, which then gives a prompt to the user. The user is alerted that the table is unbalanced. Due to this, a balanced hip bone condition is beneficial and healthy for the spine. It is important to test whether the hip bones are balanced. An infrared sensor is installed at the back of the waist. When bending over, the waist comes close to the infrared sensor. A distance of more than 3cm is required to prompt the user to sit up straight. The infrared sensor vibrates through the Arduino to alert the user. This product can be placed in the office as an office sitting corrector or as an office sitting toy.
